Based on materials from criminal file No. 50162, opened on Petro Iosyfovych Potichnyi by the NKVD of the Ukrainian SSR in September 1940, this book reveals how the police apparatus of the Soviet Union operated against nationally aware Ukrainians, and how, even during the glasnost period and in the years since Ukraine’s independence, the security services were still concealing the truth about the mass killings of political prisoners during the “evacuation” of NKVD prisons in June 1941.
